This is a work in progress with additional deaths added on a regular basis as newspapers are abstracted.  Currently this database contains 54,628 deaths.   Please check all possible spellings or partial spellings of last names.  The original cards sometimes contain additional information (birth date, marriage, husband/wife name) which was not transcribed to the computer database.

Data Type:

Many variations of spelling and data appear in the newspaper accounts for the same person.   Researchers should view civic records for verification and/or interpretation.

Known Issues:

1.      About 1,000 deaths from the early 1950’s were filed before being transcribed into this database.  These cards can be searched in the card file at the archives.

2.      During the early years of this transcription project only obituaries were recorded.   Additional brief death notices were not extracted.

3.      This online database is a transcription of index cards on file at the archives.  Transcription errors can and have occurred in the original newspaper, by the original extractor and during the transcription to the computer database.   Commonly misread letters are i, e, a, o, v, r, h and k.
